The Court Room was in use up until 1982. The court at Dewsbury Town Hall has witnessed some well known criminals including the Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe who in January 1981 was
questioned at Dewsbury Police Station, before being formally charged before Magistrates at the Town Hall. The court room is often used as a location for Film and TV including various productions for the BBC and ITV.
